Fats can be naturally present in a food product or added, but they can also be incorporated into the cooking mixtures of the food industry.
To reduce your consumption of hidden fats, you should:
- Use milk and dairy products made with skimmed or semi-skimmed milk.
- Avoid certain prepared commercial meals rich in fat or with ready-made sauce (carbohydrates + fats).
- Eat fatty meats (duck, lamb, etc.) only occasionally.
- Replace commercial dessert creams with low-fat desserts.
- Eat cooked pork meats, sweet breads and cakes, chips only occasionally.
- Limit the amount of cooking fat and prefer vegetable fats, particularly olive oil, well known for its healthy benefits (protection from cardiovascular diseases*).
